Where is Orocafe coffee sourced and processed?
Our coffee is sourced directly from local farmers in Uganda and processed at origin. This protects quality while adding value to the economy and communities that grow our coffee.
Is Orocafe coffee roasted in Uganda or in the UK?
All our coffee is roasted at origin in Uganda, at our own factory in Kampala, then airshipped to the UK. Every pack is sealed and packed at source to lock in freshness.
What type of coffee do you use: arabica or robusta?
We use both Ugandan arabica and robusta - all of our Specialty blend products use 100% Ugandan arabica coffee, while our Espresso and Barista blend products and instant and premix range all use both Ugandan arabica and robusta beans.
What does "natural processed" mean?
Natural processing means the coffee cherries are dried whole, with the fruit still on the bean, before the fruit is removed. It gives a sweeter, fruitier, fuller cup. Most of our coffee is natural processed, with a smaller share of washed arabica for a cleaner, brighter profile.
What's the difference between your Specialty, Espresso and Barista blends?
Specialty Blend: 100% Ugandan Arabica, medium roast. Bright and light with an almost tea-like body and notes of chocolate and caramel. Best for filter, French press, lungo and cortado.
Espresso Blend: 60% Arabica, 40% Robusta, medium roast. A balanced cup with medium acidity and notes of apple zest, chocolate and honey. Best for espresso shots, cappuccinos and lattes.
Barista Blend: 50% Arabica, 50% Robusta, dark roast. Bold and full-bodied with low acidity and spicy, floral, nutty notes, plus a high caffeine kick. Best for espresso and milk-based drinks.
Is Orocafe coffee organic or certified?
Our factory in Kampala holds ISO 22000 food safety certification and Organic certification (EU and USDA).
Is your coffee ethically and traceably sourced?
We buy directly from Ugandan farmers and use farm-plot mapping to trace our coffee back to where it was grown, which also helps us meet EU deforestation regulation (EUDR) requirements.
What's your story?
Our parent company, Discovery Group started as a green coffee exporter in Uganda in 2015, set up our Kampala factory in 2018, and launched Orocafe in Uganda in 2024. Our mission is simple: from Uganda to the world. Find more details on www.discoverygroupug.com.
Which coffee formats does Orocafe offer?
Our 2026 range includes roasted coffee bags, Nespresso-compatible capsules, single-use drip coffee bags, freeze-dried instant coffee and convenient premix coffee sachets.
Are the capsules compatible with Nespresso machines?
Yes. Orocafe capsules are compatible with Nespresso Original machines and are supplied in boxes of ten, individually sealed to preserve their aroma and full-bodied flavour. Please note our capsules are not compatible with Nespresso Vertuo machines.
How do I prepare an Orocafe drip coffee bag?
Tear open the packet and filter, place the hangers over your cup, slowly pour 150-180ml of hot water at 92-96°C, then remove the used filter and enjoy.
What sizes are available for Oro Signature instant coffee?
Oro Signature freeze-dried instant coffee is available in 50g jars for smaller households or on-the-go convenience and 100g jars for coffee lovers who prefer to stock up.
What is included in the premix coffee range?
Choose from Oro Classic 3 in 1, Oro Cappuccino and Oro Vanilla Latte. Each variety comes in a bag of ten sachets and only needs hot water and a quick stir.
How should I brew your ground coffee?
Cafetière: Use 60g of coffee per litre (about 15g for 250ml) with a coarse grind. Pour on water just off the boil, stir, and steep for 4 minutes before pressing slowly.
Filter machine: Use 60g per litre (about 6g per 100ml) with a medium grind. Use fresh, cold water and a paper filter.
V60 / pour-over: Use 15g of coffee to 250ml of water (1:16) with a medium-fine grind and water at 92-96°C. Wet the grounds with 40ml and wait 30 seconds, then pour the rest in slow circles. It should finish in 2:30-3:00.
Moka pot: Fill the basket level with medium-fine coffee and don't tamp. Fill the base with hot water just below the valve, and heat gently. Take it off the heat when it starts to sputter, and run the base under cold water to stop it going bitter.
Espresso machine: Use 18g of coffee for a 36g shot (1:2) with a fine grind, taking 25-30 seconds. If the shot runs fast and sour, grind finer. If it runs slow and bitter, grind coarser.
How should I store my coffee?
Keep it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, and reseal the bag tightly after opening.
How long does the coffee stay fresh? What's the shelf life?
All of our coffees (except our premix range) have a shelf life of 48 months. Please see packaging for roast and best before date. Our premix range has a shelf life of 36 months.
Is Orocafe coffee vegan?
Our roasted coffee (whole beans and ground), capsules, drip bags and instant coffee contain only coffee, so they're suitable for vegans. Our premix range (Oro Classic 3 in 1, Oro Cappuccino and Oro Vanilla Latte) contains milk powder, so it isn't vegan.
Does Orocafe provide private-label coffee?
Yes. We support sourcing, roasting, custom blend development and packaging, aligning every detail with the customer's brand positioning and market requirements.
What packaging formats can I choose for private label?
Valve coffee bags (250g, 500g, 1kg), Nespresso-compatible capsules, and drip coffee bags. Bespoke packaging depends on our packaging supplier.
What are your minimum order quantities and lead times?
These depend on the product and packaging. Email info@orocafe.net and we'll send a bespoke proposal.
Can I sample or cup the coffee before committing?
Yes. We cup in our own lab and can send you the results and/or samples. Courier costs for samples are covered by the buyer.
Do you handle export documents and shipping?
Yes, we manage export documentation and compare couriers to get you the best rate.
Do you supply cafes, restaurants and retailers?
